WHERE TO EAT IN TIGNES

SHARE ON :

In Tignes, we are very fortunate to have a bunch of really good restaurants at our doorstep. Here are a few of our favorite restaurants in Tignes

LE PANORAMIC

Le Panoramic is perched at 3036m d’altitude on the Grande Motte Glacier.  It recently received its first Michelin star and is the highest Michelin starred restaurant in the world!

Jean-Michel Bouvier and his team excel in getting the best food up to the top of the mountain and do wonders preparing it in the most exquisite manner.  Enjoy lunch in a wonderful setting opposite the Mont Blanc and with a fire crackling in the background. Jean-Michel Bouvier has an amazing selection of wines and food that is picked only from the best artisans in the region.   You may be wearing your ski gear, you can expect 5 star service.  They even lend you furry slippers to keep your feet warm during your experience!

To get there, you have to take the funicular “Direction Glacier” from Val Claret.  You don’t need to be a skier to enjoy le Panoramic as you can go down with the funicular too.  If you are a pedestrian, we highly recommend putting your winter woolies on (at any time of the year) the trip in the train to the top is icy cold.

Reservation recommended – open every day for lunch and open on Thursday nights

Must do: every Thursday night, le Panoramic organises soirées at the top of the mountain for the happy few. Take the last funicular to the top and enjoy a candle-lit dinner.  To get back home, you must ski back with a headlamp.  For those who are a bit scared of the outcome, these soirées are organised with a mountain guide and there’s also a snowplough that can take you back.

URSUS

Ursus is the gastronomic restaurant of Maison Bouvier.  Clément Bouvier, Jean-Michel’s son, is a very talented chef.  He used to second Jean-François Piège in Le Grand Restaurant in Paris.

Clement takes you on an experience into the Savoyard forests and instead of taking you to the forest, has transported the forest to his restaurant!

Clément has a real attention to detail and taste and only selects the finest fresh goods for his menus from the local farmers. His tasting menu is available in 3 different variations.

You won’t be disappointed.

The staff is absolutely amazing : caring, happy and instantly make you feel comfortable. There’s no doubt you’ll have an unbeleivable experience.

Reservation highly recommended.

LA FERME DES 3 CAPUCINES

La Ferme des 3 Capucines is a real farm, you’ll see the livestock through a window in the back of the restaurant, so whatever you chose on the menu, it’ll be farm fresh! The cuisine is absolutely delicious and beyond the Savoyard specialities, the chef is excellent.

You’ll probably see more locals than tourists at La Ferme des 3 Capucines, as it is an absolute bargaian.

The cheeses and jams are homemade, so are the desserts (we really recommend the blueberry tart) and the wine menu is very good.  La Ferme des 3 Capucines is recommended by Gault et Millau and the Michelin Guide

LE MENDIKOA

Le Mendikoa is a tiny restaurant in Le Lavachet, but we absolutely loved our meal there.  The team is a young and passionate couple who have a catching generosity and joy that is contagious. The chef, who is from Basque country adds a few twists of Basque cuisine to the traditional menu and it is delicious.

LA TABLE DE JEANNE

La Table de Jeanne is another establishment belonging to Maison Bouvier and it is a delightful place to have dinner.  Most of the cuisine is inspired by Savoie and the exceptional ingredients you can find here.  The sommelier is very good and you will love your experience by the blazing fire.

LES POULETTES

Eat in or takeaway, Les Poulettes is a daytime snack bar in Val Claret that has a great menu full of homemade dishes and deserts.  Sarah takes great care of her customers and spoils them with delicious fresh food.

The concept started as Roast Chicken that you can order in advance, but the restaurant has morphed into a wonderful midday pit stop with healthy and delicious food options, lunchbox preparation, and even a catering service for cocktail parties.

LE BRASERO

This was one of our favorite pubs during the renovation.  Le Brasero is a family friendly English-style pub in Le Lavachet.

The owners are adorable and the selection of beers is impressive. They serve fine crust pizzas every day and serve delicious plats du jour : curry, burgers, steak and fries…  It’s simple but it keeps you warm!

For football fans, they also have the important football matches on sky TV too.

Le Brasero is opposite the bus stop in Le Lavachet

LE MOOSE

Another English pub but this one is closer to Les Suites du Yosemite.

They serve great food and have an English Breakfast formula all day long. Ask for a cup of tea and you get a piping hot PG tips!

The staff is really friendly and you can catch up on football and rugby matches on a big screen.

On La Rue de La Poste opposite the Le Bec Rouge apartment block.

LE WHITNEY BAR

Last but not least the Whitney Bar is the cosy fireside bar next to the Maison Bouvier hotel lobby. Great food, amazing alcohol selection and the impeccable Bouvier service

ELSEWHERE

We haven’t tried them out yet, but we’re definitely going to visit Cocorico, Le Diamond Rock and L’Atelier d’Edmond in Val d’Isere when they open.  Stay tuned…
